Family Fun in Delray Beach, Florida and Surrounding Areas
The scenario goes something like this. You flew to Florida, met with your Realtor, probably viewed many homes and eventually settled on one of the many Active Adult Communities which had the features, activities and lifestyle you were seeking. Great! Put in an offer; it was accepted. The deal is done and the house is now yours. You've moved in. You're getting involved in tennis, cards, hobbies, going to the gym, making new friends, whatever. Maybe you still work. Life is good.
And then, you get the phone call. The kids are coming with the grandkids.
Now what? First question: Where can we take them to eat? Because everyone knows that Florida revolves around breakfast, lunch and dinner! After all, we're home of the Early Bird, or to be politically correct these days, the Sunset Dinner! So you go through your repertoire and then you ask your friends. Great, now we know where we're having the next 21 meals. Whew, glad that's done.
Now what, you wonder? What do we do with them the rest of the time?
South Florida is home to many places to take kids and grandkids. Not to worry. First off, if they're coming down during a holiday, your community will likely have some planned activities for them. Of course, we always have the beach and the pool. But, the weather may not be conducive to swimming, for example, like today where it's 50 degrees outside. And they're thinking. For this I came to Florida?
You might try taking them to Boomers for some miniature golf or perhaps catch a movie at Muvico. How about a visit to the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens? If you're lucky enough, it might be during their Hatsume Festival in February, truly something special. Or, Coconut Cove Recreation Center and Waterpark? We have the Gumbo Limbo Nature Preserve and the Children's Museum of Boca Raton along with the Children's Science Explorium at Sugar Sand Park.
And, if you're still looking for things to do, take a ride to Lion Country Safari or the Palm Beach Zoo. Still have time left? There's the Fort Lauderdale Museum of Discovery and Science or go for a swim with the dolphins at the Miami Seaquarium. Wanadoo City at Sawgrass Mills is always a hit with the kids. There's also Butterfly World. And, if you're brave, you can also take an airboat ride in the Everglades at Holiday Park.
And, of course, we have shopping! Lots and lots of shopping. Malls, boutiques, outlets, discount stores - you name it, we've got it.
So, grandma, grandpa, grammy, papa, nana - whatever - don't worry! Enjoy your life in your active adult community. The kids will eat well - after all, you've already planned 21 meals - and they'llhave plenty to do!
